Katy Perry Teases Fans With a Promise of a “ride this fall” to Make up for Her 2024 Met Gala Absence
This year's Met Gala saw celebrities from all walks of life embracing the allure of nature in vintage or vintage-inspired outfits to craft some ethereal moments on the red carpet. While the event boasted its usual share of sartorial hits and misses, the absence of certain high-profile figures- Katy Perry among them- was felt keenly. But thanks to AI, her mom, and her fans were convinced that the singer was there at the 2024 Met Gala.
AI images of Perry circulating online showed her in a stunning white and green ball gown adorned with intricate foliage accents. This triggered a social media storm and fans bombarded her with messages of missing her at the Met Gala and showering her with compliments like "OMG you killed it etc etc," as the songstress mentioned in a recent tweet. To make up for her absence from the Met Gala, she dropped the tease for fans, saying, "...hold on to your common sense hat cause we in for a ride this fall".

Apart from her fans, the singer's mother too fell victim to this digital manipulation, believing it to be a real image of Perry on the famed Met staircase. Perry shared a screenshot of her conversation with her mother, who was bewildered at the sight of her daughter's supposed presence at the prestigious event. Though unable to grace the Met Gala, the 39-year-old's hint at something forthcoming this fall sparked a social media frenzy anyway.
Fans took to X, trying to figure out what Katy Perry's surprise “ride” could be all about.
Fans can not wait for Katy Perry's sixth album after her tease
Since Katy Perry's daughter Daisy Dove arrived in Aug. 2020, she has been MIA on the album front. But in an interview with Good Morning America last year, she teased her sixth album in the works, inspired by her little angel with Orlando Bloom. Even during one of her Las Vegas PLAY gigs last year, she dropped a breadcrumb about the KP6 era. Now fans are convinced that it is finally here.
Fans could not wait to get a taste of the songstress's new music after 'Smile' hit the shelves in 2020.
Meanwhile, some were still hung up on her AI-generated Met Gala appearance.

It was not just Katy Perry who got stung by the AI-generated celebrity imagery trend. Rihanna was also absent from the event, despite dropping hints of attending the event. Since then, fake photos of her, along with Perry supposedly at the Met Gala have been making the rounds online, despite neither of them actually being there.
