Kanye West is easily one of the most sought-after rappers of this generation. However, in addition to his music, the musician had a big impact on sneaker culture. This fact was reinforced when the rapper released his Nike Air Yeezy in cooperation with the apparel giant Nike in 2009. These kicks rapidly became a hit across town, propelling West farther ahead in the sneaker world. However, there was one sneaker design by the rapper that ranked above his Nike collaboration both in terms of launch date and demand.

For the past two decades, the rapper’s creative prowess has frequently been reflected in the footwear he has designed. Despite the turbulence, fans await a new drop. While new designs may be out of the question for now, one of his most popular sneakers from 2007, exhibiting his affinity for Japanese streetwear, is making a comeback at an auction.

Kanye West’s signed College Dropout A Bathing Ape BAPE STA Low sneakers, designed jointly with Nigo, are now available on Joopiter for sale. The sneakers have an all-leather BAPE STA look, with the iconic ‘College Dropout’ bear firing in the environment and different color palettes from the record on the heel. Additionally, the footwear is projected to cost between $5,000 to $7,000. The sneakers are a part of Nigo’s From Me To You line and will be auctioned off worldwide from November 9 to November 16.

The infatuation surrounding the ‘College Dropout’ era was heightened when his daughter, North West, paid tribute to her father as she dressed as the iconic bear from the album cover this Halloween. While the rapper’s daughter may have chosen it as a costume, fashion-forward fans of the rapper still hail that era as one of his finest.

On August 18, social media users TheCanvasDon and crushmyex released a fully functional game called ‘The College Brickout Game’ based on the ‘College Dropout’ album. On his Instagram page, he also posted a Lego-sized version of the rapper sprinting across a Lego college campus. The creator, who goes by the name Donovan, also stated that the game has a 10-minute run time and is only available for a limited period. The creation of this game demonstrates that the record is still well-received even after two decades.

Although the album never made it to number one, it went on to do greater things for the rapper. Apart from a sneaker line and a PC game, it was this album that cemented the rapper as a game changer. While many from the fandom are yet to stop waxing poetic about the impact of the album on hip-hop, it seems that the fashion word will chime in soon.
