The term ‘out of the box’ truly lives to its fullest through the fallen billionaire and Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West. He has artfully shattered the confines of music to not only make way for several unique rapping styles but has also written perhaps the most unconventional chapter in the history of popular fashion. While it is mostly Kim Kardashian, who is noted as his muse, the rapper, through his personal style, has also ignited a multitude of sartorial revolutions.

This affinity to spark revolutions with his fashion choice made way for the most slippery downslope for the rapper last year and as this year edges closer towards its end, Kanye West is again making headlines for his fashion choices.

From wearing a crystal-encrusted mask at the 2021 Met Gala to donning a head-to-toe silver ensemble reminiscent of a space-age warrior, and even sporting oversized, hole-ridden sweaters, Ye knows just how to keep everyone on their toes with his fashion choices. This year he has mostly left his wife, Bianca Censori, to do most of the conventional challenges with fashion. However, the rapper unintentionally managed to unleash an investigation with a sweatshirt that he wore which sported a St Mary’s Christian Brothers’ Grammar School logo.

For the unversed, St Mary’s Christian Brothers’ Grammar School is a Roman Catholic school in Belfast. Unlike renowned educational institutions such as Harvard or Yale, the Belfast school does not have its logo printed on a gazillion sweatshirts. In fact, according to the principal, Siobhan Kelly’s statement on BBC News NI, the school made only thirty-five such sweaters for a football competition in 2008.

The fact that Kanye West, who was once the mastermind behind the most popular designs in fashion, was sporting a sweatshirt with the Belfast school logo raised a lot of questions about his connection with the school.

Did Ye go to school in Belfast?

Kanye West may be synonymous with ‘College Dropout’ owing to it being among his finest works, but he did receive primary education growing up. However, it was nowhere in Belfast. The rapper’s mother, Donda West, worked as an English professor at Chicago State University and made sure that Ye attained proper education at Polaris School for Individual Education in suburban Oak Lawn, Illinois. Therefore, the rapper definitely did not score the Belfast sweatshirt by attending the school.

Given how he spends most of his time with Bianca Censori, Ye’s inner circle has become quite murky. However, it is possible that an alumnus of the Belfast school gave his sweatshirt to the rapper or that Ye picked it up from a charity shop or perhaps a thrift shop. In any case, Ye’s fashion choices have once again made him the center of attention.
