Instead of missing court dates, Kanye West is set to face off against his former manager. Ye has been going through a barrage of legal cases since last year, each for a different reason. Sometimes it is he who files the suits, and other times he faces a case file against him. Press, intellectual property, and money are three of the most common cases barring his divorce matter with Kim Kardashian.

Now those who have worked with him often hail him for being a genius. But people in the entertainment industry often end up in suits for non-payment, and Ye is no exception. His former manager filed one such suit against him, and Ye is now countering it with a $900k claim and a defense claim.

What does the counterclaim by Kanye West against his ex-manager say?

A few months ago, Ye’s former manager filed a $4.5 million suit against him for non-payment. According to RadarOnline, Ye has not only refused to pay the claimed amount but also wants his $900k back. Court papers reveal that he accuses the manager of failure to do his job well. Since Ye was going through a rough divorce and was disturbed, his lawyer states that St. John made him sign a $5.4 million worth of contract in a bad state. The lawyer feels that West was not physically or mentally clear when doing what he did and now wants back even the money paid to the former manager so far.

The manager, on the other hand, filed a case for non-payment of fees as per decided in their 18-month contract. He was supposed to pay $300k a month but was fired just after the first three months. As per him, Ye refused to pay him the rest or honor the deal between them.

However, this is not the first time that Ye is being sued by a former employee. One freelance photographer that he hired also took similar actions.

How Ye was accused of non-payment by a Yeezy photographer?

A freelance creative director by the name of Katelyn Mooney filed a suit against him for non-payment. The single mother did a photo shoot for his SHDZ sunglasses that were shown off by celebrities, including Kim Kardashian. But she was paid only $15,000 out of the $110,000 fee decided. She took support of the Freelance Isn’t Free Act (FIFA) by mentioning the exploitation of freelancers at the hand of such celebrities.

Even Adidas began an investigation against him after several accused him of mistreatment during the Yeezy partnership. It will be seen what happens in his current case.
