Kanye West may have come to be defined by his 2011 chart-topper ‘Ni**as in Paris’ but after getting everything but love after what unfolded in the city of love last year, the Grammy-winning rapper seems to be burning bridges. The new Ye likes to order vegan ramen and match his heartbeat and footsteps with Bianca Censori as he takes over Tokyo one step at a time.

Nippon embraced him in 2004 when he only was just ‘The College Dropout’. It also put on the best display of its tradition when the rapper brought his former wife, Kim Kardashian to celebrate Thanksgiving in 2019. And it continues to embrace him as his 2023 Tokyo rendezvous becomes a borderline settlement.

Paris may have brought him an evergreen single, but now his home for almost two months, Tokyo is a whole new league. As the chronicles of his controversy take a much-needed break, the maverick visionary is counting on the city with a heart of its own to guide his creativity. Or perhaps he got in one too many clashes with paparazzi back home and just needed a break from the flashbulb frenzy.

Tokyo is more than just a simple summer vacation for Ye. It is also home to the artist that drew out Ye’s most successful album covers, as if Jack Dawson drawing his French girls, Takashi Murakami.

But Kanye West’s Tokyo takeover is neither a summer vacation nor just a quick visit to an old friend. Fans have many reasons to believe that once a lover of Parisian streets, the lyrical maestro is now using the land of the rising sun as his sonic playground.

Is Ye making an album in Tokyo?

The musical icon may have been quiet about his musical voyage in Tokyo, but others have not. Ye has come to be known for the fusion of features that his albums guarantee. However, this time the features have come at the cost of keeping his much-anticipated music comeback a secret and, of course, a few million dollars. Among the first artists who served as God’s hand in turning fans’ wishful thinking into reasonable doubt was Rooga.

Rooga has previously provided creative assistance on the ‘Ok Ok’ track. He recently said that he is helping him out with an album. But if you only believe what your eyes can see, then Ty Dolla $ign’s various Instagram posts about jam-packed studio sessions in Tokyo will convince you. Here is to hoping that Tokyo solves Ye’s creative riddles and becomes the stage for his much-awaited comeback album.
