K-Pop Idol Rosé Shows Her Discomfort After Being Termed Reason for Celebrity Breakups and Called Rosé Curse

Published 11/20/2024, 12:04 AM EST

There is a running gag in the BLACKPINK fandom that whenever the pop star Rosé takes a picture with a celebrity, their relationship is doomed to fall apart. The funny thing is, so many celebrities, whether they are single or already in a relationship, have taken photos with her. But, more often than not, it is the ones who are already taken end up going their separate ways not long after getting clicked with her. After a lot of discussion on the topic and a flood of memes and jokes, Rosé has finally decided to weigh in on the whole situation.

As expected, Rosé is not exactly thrilled about being blamed for these celebrity breakups or being dubbed as some kind of bad luck charm.

Rosé recently sat down with i-D magazine, where she addressed the Rosé curse by... not really addressing it at all. According to the i-D writer, Rosé is not exactly a fan of the strange narrative “so she didn’t have heaps to say about it”. The rumored curse first gained attention back in 2021, when Gigi Hadid posted a photo with Rosé at the Met Gala, only to announce her split from Zayn Malik just a few weeks later.

From there, the coincidences started piling up- Florence Pugh and Zach Braff, Kendall Jenner and Devin Booker, and the list goes on. Last year, the curse made headlines again after another high-profile breakup- Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn. Fans noticed that it happened after the 'Lover' singer posed for a photo with Rosé at a VMA in 2022. Now, some fans are convinced that yet another couple is at risk.

Earlier this year, Rosé shared a picture with Blake Lively, and it sent a ripple of panic through fans of the beloved couple.

Fans gave Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds a heads-up

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have long been seen as the Hollywood power couple. Back in May, Rosé crossed paths with the Gossip Girl alum at the Tiffany Titan Launch in New York City, where the two posed for a photo together. While many fans were thrilled to see the two stars sharing the frame, others could not help but worry that Reynolds and Lively might become the latest victims of the Rosé curse.

The Green Lantern leads, nonetheless, are still very much together. However, their status as Hollywood’s ‘It’ couple did take a hit due to the It Ends With Us controversy earlier this year. Even so, despite the uncanny string of coincidences, the Rosé curse appears to be nothing more than one of those wild internet theories that, judging by the BLACKPINK star’s reaction, fans might have taken just a little too far.
