Will Smith’s new song, ‘You Can Make It,’ came as a surprise to many fans when it was released on June 28. Featuring Fridayy and the Sunday Service Choir, the actor also performed the track at the 2024 BET Awards on June 30. While Smith's return to music did not impress everyone as much as his cinematic comeback, Fridayy expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with the Hollywood star, calling it "a blessing" in an interview with That Grape Juice at the BET Awards.

Approached by the publication at the BET Awards, Fridayy enthusiastically praised the Bad Boys actor, whom he has always regarded as a legend. He emphasized that collaborating on the song and performing it at the ceremony were both incredible opportunities, thanking his lucky stars for aligning him with Smith. The rapper also could not help but mention his shared hometown connection to Smith, both being from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

At the BET Awards in the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, Fridayy spoke with PEOPLE and revealed that despite widespread assumptions and surprise surrounding the release of ‘You Can Make It’, featuring Will Smith, the truth is that the song had been in development for the past four years. Fridayy disclosed that the song's hook was recorded back in 2020 at his mom’s house. However, collaboration with Will Smith began earlier this year when Ayo, his producer, played him the previously recorded hook, to which Smith added his verses.

Fridayy also expressed confidence that the track will endure over time, citing the hopeful, motivational, and timeless nature of his music. He emphasized that the positive reception of a hook recorded years ago validates this belief, if nothing else. Thus, it is understandable that he sees the opportunity as nothing short of a dream come true, seeing it as the universe's way of blessing him with what many can only dream of.
