"It was like being dead"- Ye Goes Candid on Describing The Making of His Upcoming Billion-Dollar Documentary ‘In Whose Name?’
Up until October 2022, Ye, aka Kanye West, was a billionaire music artist, who had partnerships with some of the world’s biggest brands. Fast forward two months and most of that was a thing of the past. Between his divorce, X ban, backlash for offensive outbursts, and his first ‘bad’ album- at least, according to fans- the last seven years have been nothing short of a Jacobean drama for the rapper. And now is his moment to pull back the curtain on what really went down during those turbulent years with the upcoming documentary, In Whose Name?
Just recently, Ye opened up about what it was like to look back at those dark times while working on the documentary.

Ye’s documentary is set to be directed by 18-year-old Nico Ballesteros, who recently took to Instagram to share the release schedule of In Whose Name? The director shared the poster for the upcoming flick along with a screenshot of his chat with Ye, captioning it, “Coming to Theaters Worldwide 2025.” In the screenshot, Ye shared his review of the documentary with the filmmaker, saying, “The doc was very deep."
Ye added, "It was like being dead and looking back on my life." Ballesteros responded with, “This is the most profound text message I have ever received". The documentary has a billion-dollar budget and will focus on Ye’s journey to becoming the wealthiest Black man in America while diving into why he was ready to risk it all. Aside from the documentary, Ye is also cooking up his new album, which has recently spilled some juicy hints.
During a private listening party for ‘Bully,’ a bunch of pictures surfaced on the web, revealing more than Ye has ever let slip about any of his albums before release.

Right now, Ye is enjoying some quality time with his wife, Bianca Censori, in Tokyo, where he also hosted a listening party for ‘Bully’ last month. The images from the event hinted at the ‘Bully’ logo on wheels and there were also shots of the exclusive venue. Ye had even distributed some "Bully"-branded merchandise- likely a T-shirt- at the listening party.
The iconic cover of the album, which could even feature Ye's daughter, was seen at the Tokyo party. As per some fan pages on social media, Ye also threw another secret gathering where attendees had to sign confidentiality agreements and hand over their phones to not let these Easter eggs leak again. Nonetheless, it is safe to say that the rapper has a lot to say through his upcoming two projects.
