A dedicated Taylor Swift fan page took to their handle on X falsely informing the Twitterati, saying, "VMAS JUST REVEALED TAYLOR IS OPENING THE SHOW!!” Attached to the post was a link to the official MTV page, further convincing fans of the news. However, the revelation was short-lived, as users soon discovered the truth. Taylor Swift is not opening for the MTV VMAs 2024. 

Upon opening the link, fans realized it was a clever ploy to boost Taylor Swift's vote count. The post was not an official announcement, and Swift is not confirmed to open the MTV VMAs 2024, at least, not yet. The fan page's tactic may have been deceptive, but Swifties were understanding of the apparent dedication and creativity of Swifties in their quest to support their idol.

However, now that Swift is out of line, fans must wonder who would open the show on Wednesday. 

As reported by Associated Press a few hours ago, Eminem is set to do the needful. He will open the VMAs, marking his return to the stage after a two-year hiatus. His last performance was in 2022 when he delivered 'From the D 2 The LB' alongside Snoop Dogg. This highly anticipated comeback is expected to set the tone for an electrifying show. However, there is still a common ground for Eminem and Taylor Swift to partner with. 

Furthermore, the VMAs 2024, which will be held on September 11th, will feature an impressive lineup of performers, including Perry, Boone, Carpenter, Megan Thee Stallion, Chappell Roan, GloRilla, Halsey, Lenny Kravitz, LISA, Rauw Alejandro, Karol G, LL COOL J, Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, and Anitta. Additionally, Fat Joe, DJ Khaled, and Tiago PZK will join Anitta on stage, making for a star-studded and unforgettable night.
