Taylor Swift is known for her talent for drawing emotions from real-life experiences into her music. With the pop sensation re-releasing her albums, her fans have been getting some ‘from the vault’ songs that had never been heard before and some that they already love. Once she re-released ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’, her fandom went abuzz with speculation that one of her songs, ‘Innocent’, was about her infamous VMA incident with Kanye West.

While the ‘Cruel Summer’ singer had chosen not to acknowledge what went down that fateful night, most songs from that album were written shortly after the rapper’s mic snatch left her crying that awkward night.

Earlier this year, Taylor Swift released ‘Innocent’ in her ‘Speak Now’ album back in 2010. The song immediately garnered attention as it seemed she was finally addressing the 2009 VMA mic snatch by Kanye West. While the singer once hinted that the song was about a difficult time in her life, there were various references to the Yeezy creator. However, it seemed as though the singer was ready to bury the hatchet.

In the lyrics, the line that stood out to most was “32 and still growing up now” as that was Ye’s age at the time of the incident. Although with her singing about forgiveness and how “every one of us has messed up too,” fans could not help but draw their own conclusions. In fact, even in the ‘Speak Now’ CD booklet, the 33-year-old also had a secret one line that read, “life is full of little interruptions.”

Over the years, the world has been privy to many awkward moments in VMA history. One of those nights took place back in 2009. Although it may have been a simpler time in the music industry with Taylor Swift just starting out, names like Kanye West and Jay-Z already had a much bigger fan following. However, with the singer/songwriter winning Best Video by a Female Artist, the now 46-year-old ended up storming the stage and exclaiming that Beyoncé had the better album.

For a while there, things seemed to settle a little bit between Ye and the pop singer. With her presenting him with the Video Vanguard Award in 2015, it seemed as though the two had put their bad blood behind them until only a year later. Once the rapper came out with ‘Famous’, the two artists seemed to be past the point of making up. However, the ‘Champagne Problems’ singer recently ignited more speculation this year when she threw some shade at him during her Eras Tour.
