10-year-old North West has become a staple in the headlines- whether it is for landing in the Global Chart on Spotify or snacking on a raw onion. A blend of Kim Kardashian’s sass and Ye, formerly known as Kanye West’s quirks, it did not take her long to become one of the coolest preteens around. However, it seems the world was more at ease when the star kid's stardom was limited to her TikTok shenanigans.

North West recently got the chance to perform at the 30th Anniversary of The Lion King franchise. This live-to-film concert event was organized by Disney and marked West’s first Hollywood Bowl singing performance. The ‘Vultures’ star also made her acting debut as Young Simba at the event, which received a standing ovation from the audience. However, the audience on the Internet had a differing opinion, it seemed. 

Since the time she could walk, West’s career has been on a soft launch with the help of her and Kim Kardashian’s mommy-daughter TikTok account. While their videos were truly entertaining and seemed to have originated from an organic pastime, they may have contributed to the branding of the little one. And now, as Disney has taken her under its umbrella, the sentiment of North West getting easy access to all the resources one needs to be a star is all the more visible to fans. And fans have not chosen silence on this matter.

As soon as the Disney event closed its curtains, fans brought a storm on social media, reigniting the conversation about nepotism.

The conversation around nepotism is not new in the industry. Over the years, many star kids have tried to follow in the footsteps of their famous parents. While some have proven that their talent runs in the family, others have not reached the same level of success. However, it is when a star fails to meet the audience’s expectations that the debate on industry unfairness takes shape. And North West is currently the subject of just that.

Many fans accused the daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West of not doing justice to the opportunity that was given to her. 

On the flip side, there were also fans who defended North West against the trolling. 

It is inevitable for North West to be seen in the limelight, being the daughter of two of the biggest celebrities on the planet. However, it seems fans are not going to accept her solely for the media fodder she provides but, instead, for the value she brings to the table as an artist.
