"I would have been ready”- Big Sean Would Not Mind a Rap Clash With Kendrick Lamar, Cues Up Another Showdown
Kendrick Lamar has become the hottest player to contend with in diss wars, after he defeated the hit machine, Drake. But the Pulitzer winner is not letting up. For the last few months, Lamar had been on a spree airing out more than a decade of built-up tension, and he might just do that again, with a little nudge. Recently, Big Sean, who shares a complicated history with Lamar, has commented on the biggest rap battles in recent memory.
Big Sean hinted that he would not mind finding himself on the other end of the battlefield against Lamar if it ever came to that.

Big Sean recently sat down with Charlamagne tha God on his Out of Context podcast, just ahead of the official release of his leaked album, 'Better Me Than You'. During the chat, a lot of questions were asked about his relationship with K. Dot. When the topic of a diss war was raised, Sean revealed that he was always “ready” to square off with Lamar in a rap battle. “I guess we’ll never know… but yes, of course, I would have been ready,” said the ‘Detroit’ creator.
Sean also made it clear that there is no bad blood between him and Lamar, even though they are not exactly pals. He then touched on the roots of their supposed rivalry. Sean set the record straight on the years-old leaked verse by Lamar from the original version of his 2017 song ‘Element,’ where the ‘Not Like Us’ singer had taken aim at the 36-year-old by name-dropping him.
Big Sean explained what led Lamar to ultimately cut the lines from the song’s final version, but not before it nearly sparked a full-blown diss war back in the day.

In the 2019 leaked verse from ‘Element,’ Kendrick Lamar accused Big Sean of having “false confidence” and clout from his relationships with famous singers. When Charlamagne tha God recently asked Sean whether he was ever going to respond to that diss, the ‘Mercy’ singer shared that he “had a whole thing prepared” initially. However, the two rappers eventually had a conversation with each other and buried the hatchet.
Big Sean even claimed that Kendrick Lamar had “apologized” for the leak. Despite that, the two have since tried to stay out of each other’s way. Now, with this new interview and Sean’s openness to a rap battle with the 37-year-old, the door has once again been left ajar for another Lamar-driven diss war in 2024.
