“I put everything on the line…” – Kanye West Gets Candid With a Fan About the Journey to Creating Yeezy Pods
Kanye West was once Hollywood’s foremost trendsetter. After a few years of finding himself on the fringes of the industry’s spotlight because of controversies, he seems to be strutting back into the fashion scene. As the landscape of West’s involvement in the fashion world undergoes a notable transformation once again with his new Yeezy Pods launch, the father of four’s social media presence has also gone up significantly. By connecting with fans and fellow designers online, he is marketing his visionary product to the masses.
His most recent interaction with a fan gave netizens a rare glimpse into the mind of Ye.

In an Instagram story Ye posted earlier today, he shared a screenshot of a conversation he had with a fellow fashion designer, Brittany Pierone. She had given the ‘Donda’ rapper’s Yeezy Pods a shoutout on her page, which made him thank her for “the support”. In a rare vulnerable moment, he opened up his heart to her confessing, “I put everything on the line and we’re building everything from scratch”.
Well, fans of West can sympathize with his struggles in the fashion world for sure. In an unfortunate turn of events last year, Adidas chose to distance itself from the enigmatic rapper after a series of controversies. Similar to how he showed love to another designer earlier this month, he relayed his appreciation “for a start-up” to Pierone, maybe because he had to build his brand back up like one himself.
The 46-year-old is certainly leaning towards collaborating with more and more start-ups lately.
Ye’s collaboration with Nigerian designer
Just yesterday, Ye and Bianca Censori launched a new product, made in collaboration with a start-up named Mowalola. The apparel in question is a white tank top with WET printed in large font at the front, which Censori modeled last month on Ye’s social media. The minimalistic top comes as his first venture into budget-friendly fashion, carrying a tag of a mere $20. Back in 2020, he relayed his desire to do something along these lines.

The vision he revealed was to sell products that retail at $20, including items like sunglasses and clothing. Now, as he forays into supporting start-ups, his collaboration with the Nigerian designer proves he is taking his first steps in that direction. The brand is a brainchild of Mowalola Ogunlesi and touts itself as a futuristic label, similar to Ye and Censori’s current aesthetic choices.
