Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, has had an immeasurable impact on the rap industry, so much so that despite the lack of activities on the musical front, the echoes of his name just do not die down. This was further proven as the artist made a comeback curtsy of the push that his friends in the industry provided. Although not among the list of collaborators that escalated Ye's comeback this time around, Rhymefest has shed light on just the musical genius that was Ye at that time.

While the artist had collaborated with Ye back when the rapper was very young and still finding his rhythm, just how close they were becomes clear in Rhymefest's declaration of what he loves about Ye.

Rhymefest as an artist has been met with several highs in his career, yet the days he spent cooking up generational music with Ye remain undefeated. This was further cemented as he talked about Ye in a recent interview with PEOPLE, where he traced back to the start of it all. While many would assume, given their collaborations, that it was music that tied them together, Rhymefest stated, "I fell in love with his mother."

The 'Jesus Walks' artist elaborated how Ye's mother, the late Donda West, had served as a mentor for not just Ye but also him. Rhymefest reflected on how she did not judge him but merely guided him to introspect further on what was right or wrong. While Ye's mother served as an inspiration for the rapper, Ye himself does not come far behind in Rhymefest's list.

Given that Ye and Rhymefest both grew up rapping together in Chicago, and have now decided to put themselves forth in contesting for bigger roles, it is clear that their brain chemistry does not work too differently. However, they do function at different levels, given how Ye did not blink an eye before contesting for Presidential Elections, while Rhymefest is putting his hat in for the school board elections.

This is the first time that Chicago is going to be holding school board elections and given his drive for change and Chicago being his hometown, it makes perfect sense for Rhymefest to step in. Moreover, unlike Ye, Rhymefest seems to be taking the campaigning much more seriously and is ready to put his intel at work as a member of the Chicago school board.
