How Taylor Swift’s Music Wove a Beautiful Bond Between Journalist Laura Trujillo and Her Daughter
Taylor Swift, the once-in-a-generation artist, is bringing parents and children closer. The pop star’s Eras Tour saw thousands of parents taking their Swiftie children to the concerts, and some even found themselves caught in the Swiftie web along the way. Listening to her music, discussing her verses, and Easter eggs, collecting her merch, or joining her pastel-colored, rainbow-filled tours- parents have found the perfect avenues to bond with their kids. Recently, another mother has come forward to share her own heartwarming story.
Journalist Laura Trujillo likened Swift’s 18-year journey in the Eras Tour to the path she has walked with her own 18-year-old daughter.

Laura Trujillo, the managing editor for Life and Entertainment at USA Today, recently celebrated Taylor Swift, an artist who has been a constant in her and her daughter’s lives. In her USA Today article, the mother of four shared a sweet tale of how her 18-year-old daughter Lucy, who became a Swiftie at the age of six, has grown from a little girl, just singing Swift's songs, to a mature young woman, singing words she now understands and relate with.
“She is beginning to realize that I am more than just her mom,” said Trujillo of her daughter. Trujillo also talked about why mothers are cheering for their daughters’ love of Taylor Swift. It is all about having space to express feelings, sharing emotions, working hard, and enjoying life. She also mentioned the strong sense of community and positivity within Swift’s fan base, which makes parents excited for their daughters to be part of it. Nonetheless, it is not just mothers embracing their Swiftie era.
While Taylor Swift is bringing mothers and daughters closer together in a unique way, fathers are also joining in the fun.

Nothing tugs at the heartstrings quite like Swiftie dads taking their daughters to join in on the Eras Tour extravaganza, with arms weighed down by friendship bracelets and glitter sprinkled around their eyes. From everyday folks to celebrity dads, everyone has been sucked into this phenomenon- all to connect with their kids and spend quality time with them.
The Eras Tour saw Prince William shaking it off at the concert with his children, and Channing Tatum showing off his Swiftie gear, including a T-shirt that nods to Taylor Swift's 'Anti-Hero' lyrics. Not only are they singing their hearts out to Swift’s songs at the concerts, but they are also exchanging friendship bracelets with their daughters. All in all, hosting the world’s largest music tour while also building a community where parents feel their children are in a safe place is truly adding a touch of magic to the world.
