A few weeks down the line from being name-dropped in Taylor Swift's album's title track, Charlie Puth decided to break his silence by announcing his newest single, ‘Hero,’ on TikTok. “This is a song I wrote about my friend called ‘Hero'," he shared in the video. Moments before dropping the TikTok bombshell, he teased fans with a snippet of the track in an Instagram clip where he seemed to be mouthing along the song to his dog.
Without directly pointing fingers at the inspiration behind the song, Puth dropped some hints that Taylor Swift's nod in her titular track pushed him to unveil his own creation. Not giving away much, the artist wrapped up his TikTok reveal by giving a shout-out to his 'Hero,' saying, “Thank you for your support… you know who you are." Nonetheless, the pop star's shout-out to him did more than just tickle his fancy or inspire his musical release.

Despite the usual drama that surrounds the 'Cruel Summer' singer's releases, Puth's Instagram followers surged to 18.2 million.
In just four days since the album's release, he pulled in 30,962 new followers on Instagram, as reported by Social Blade. Recently, as he shared a picture with his fiancée, he found his comments section flooded with adoration from Swifties, echoing the billionaire music mogul's call for Charlie Puth to get more recognition as an artist. And speaking of the new single, ‘Hero’, it is slated for release on May 24, giving Taylor Swift ample time to include it in her pre-show playlist for the Eras Tour in Portugal.
