Hours After Jay-Z’s Grammy Call Out, Kanye West Backs the Artist’s Speech
The 2024 Grammy Awards were a wild ride. From Taylor Swift making music history to a winner’s arrest during the event, the world got to witness a lot of chaos. However, the most startling part of the evening was when Jay-Z took the stage to accept the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award. While most fans expected the artist to be overjoyed at his achievement, he chose to call out the awards show for not giving Beyoncé, his wife, a nomination this year.
While his speech reminded everyone of Kanye West’s 2009 VMA speech, the 46-year-old has now ended up re-sharing the speech online.

In a story on his Instagram, Kanye West shared a clip of Jay-Z’s Grammy speech. While the rapper left it without a caption, it seemed as though he was almost siding with his former best friend. In the speech, the ‘Story of O.J.’ rapper said that while some people in the audience had been “robbed” that night, there were others who did not “belong in the category.”
Although he had gone on stage to accept his award, Jay-Z could not help but feel enraged for his wife, Beyoncé, who had not been nominated this year. While he might have had a valid reason for feeling the way he did, the speech reminded fans of Ye’s 2009 mic snatch from Taylor Swift, which he has since reflected on.
It looks like the Yeezy genius still made an appearance in everyone’s minds, even though the 46-year-old had been banned from the Grammy’s back in 2022.
Why Kanye West was banned from the Grammy Awards
Just two years ago, Kanye West was on his unhinged social media posting spree that burnt a lot of his bridges. From destroying his marriage to Kim Kardashian and jeopardizing his now-canceled deal with Adidas, everything seemed to go wrong for the star. It reached a boiling point when he was banned from performing at the Grammy Awards, as he was making controversial statements at the time.

While the cutting of his creative performances was enough to stop Ye from attending the awards ceremonies, it did not help that the rapper took a step back from making music. However, with West’s plans to release ‘Vultures’ eventually, fans might get to see him be nominated for a Grammy once again.
