Billboard recently released its list of the Greatest Pop Stars in 2023, and Taylor Swift took the crown in style. According to Billboard, declaring her the Greatest Pop Star of 2023 “has never been easier”, given the massive impact she made this year. Swift kicked off the year in the golden glow of the ‘Midnights’ album cycle and then made her ‘Anti-Hero’ snag the No. 1 spot for the first two non-holiday weeks. The follow-up single ‘Lavender Haze’ also gained massive traction on pop radio. 

Amidst the glory of her musical endeavors, Eras Tour added just another feather to her crown. Fans practically took over stadiums and screamed their hearts out as the singer performed. The show even got the 34-year-old her billionaire status. That said, this year truly underscored the sheer star power that the ‘All Too Well’ singer wields in the music industry. Yet, there is another star who has shattered a record that Taylor Swift has yet to achieve.

Justin Bieber broke yet another Spotify record surpassing Swift

The world has an idea of the coldness between the two musical heavyweights, Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift. However, their face-off in music is a rarity. Justin Bieber recently achieved a milestone with his 2015 track ‘What Do You Mean?,’ crossing 1.5 billion streams on Spotify. This marked the 15th time the singer accomplished this feat on the platform. 

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift has just entered the fray, breaking this record with ‘Cruel Summer,’ which recently earned a spot in Spotify’s Billion Club playlist. Taylor Swift has yet not attained Bieber’s level of achievement on Spotify. Despite her billionaire status and the most successful tour, Swift has had only nine of her songs end up on the list so far.
