Ashanti was already a sensation years before Swift made her debut. Even so, she has broken Ashanti's biggest record multiple times. 

Ashanti was the first female artist to hold the top two spots on the Billboard Hot 100 with ‘What’s Luv?’ and ‘Foolish,’ back in 2001 and 2002. However, Taylor Swift did not just conquer the top two spots but took over the entire top 10 with her 2022 album 'Midnights.' Not only did she break Ashanti's record, but also became the first woman to claim 10 spots in one sweep. And that was just the start.

This year, Taylor Swift went even bigger, claiming the top 14 spots with songs from her new album 'The Tortured Poets Department.' Of course, she was not the only one who broke Ashanti’s record- Ariana Grande, Mariah Carey, and Iggy Azalea have all had their moments. But no one did it like Swift. However, Ashanti is not the only legend that the Eras Tour star dethroned from her chart status.

Taylor Swift also outdid the records of legends like Elvis Presley and some other genius musical minds in the last one year. 

Taylor Swift is now one of just eight artists in history to reach 12 or more No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100, putting her in the company of The Beatles and Michael Jackson. While she did not surpass their records with this feat, she got there soon enough. With 'The Tortured Poets Department,' Swift spent 384 weeks in the Billboard 200 Top 10- beating The Beatles’ record of 382 weeks.

Just a month before that, she had already broken one of Michael Jackson’s records. Her Eras Tour documentary, which brought in a massive $261.6 million globally, outdid Jackson’s This Is It, which previously held the record with $261.2 million. With accomplishments like these, it is fair to wonder- can today’s new generation of pop stars match Taylor Swift’s level of success?
