Kid Cudi and Ye, two of the most well-established names in rap, have ridden along a relationship that had its highs and lows with big-selling collaborations as well as feuds. Recounting the details, in his April 2024 talk with Tony Hawk for Complex, the former stated “Even though me and him have had our issues he’s still a true friend,” cementing the tone of his ties with the ‘Donda’ singer while also laying bare an incident from a while ago.
In response to the question of the “goat” gifts he has received so far, Cudi counted one from Ye as being “very thoughtful”. The ‘Flashing Lights' singer had gifted him a piece of artwork by Kurt Cobain from the late singer’s childhood days. Additionally, the two rappers share a history that runs back years. In 2008, a debut mixtape titled ‘A Kid Named Cudi’ gave the then-young rapper the spotlight, soon after which, Ye signed him on his GOOD Music label, making way for collaborations including 2016’s ‘The Life of Pablo’.
On the other side of affairs, Ye recently flared up against the likes of Kenrick Lamar and Drake, courtesy of a new music album.

In late March this year, Future and Metro Boomin dropped their latest album, 'We Don't Trust You' which featured Kendrick Lamar on a track titled ‘Like That’. While the song took direct diss and references at Drake and J. Cole, speculations arose over it also hinting slyly at Ye. The song’s similarity with a track from the Chicago-born rapper’s collaboration, ‘Eazy’, sparked the rumors.
In his reply, Ye took to Instagram with claims that he “washed” Lamar and Drake. With an expanded explanation of himself as the only “goat”, the beef went viral soon enough. Ever since, the ‘Donda’ singer has taken to preparations for an upcoming line-up of ‘Vultures’ listening parties and has also deactivated his Instagram account with a likely focus on his music.
