“Have we not learned”- Fans in Distress as Taylor Swift Eras Tour in Portugal Sets a Horrific Rule for the Concert
Taylor Swift is not just aiming to make the Eras Tour the highest-grossing concert series ever. Whenever she performs in a town, the local economy gets a nice uptick. However, how comfortable and convenient it is for the attendees is still up for debate. Over the course of the Eras Tour performances, there have been many unfortunate accidents that have triggered backlash toward both the management and the pop star. As the songstress heads to Portugal, it seems another catastrophe could be just around the corner.
A short while ago, an absurd rule for the upcoming shows in Portugal was announced by the music event promoter, Last Tour. The rule stated that fans could not bring water bottles to the concert. The announcement brought back horrifying memories of the mess during the Eras Tour show in Brazil, which saw many people fainting and even some losing their lives. No one can forget the fans frantically begging and shouting for water during the Rio de Janeiro concert.

Ana Clara Benevides Machado, a concert attendee in Brazil, tragically lost her life after falling ill during Taylor Swift’s performance, reportedly due to the intense heat wave. Swift posted a heartfelt note on her Instagram story, expressing her deep regret over the loss. However, the discomfort and ordeal that fans experienced at the concert are still fresh in everyone's minds.
Ever since word got out about this awful rule, fans have been raising concerns about the well-being of attendees at the concert.
Fans demanding a change to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour rule
The Eras Tour concerts are already packed and sweltering due to the intense lights and flashes. In that heat, for a 3.5-hour show where people will be lining up hours in advance and crammed into tight spaces standing most of the time, banning water bottles is a bad idea. And fans have already foreseen that this decision will not go over well.
Many fans also pointed out the Brazil disaster, saying the Eras Tour should take a hint from that situation and "have we not learned" anything from the accident.
Then there were those who straight up bashed the rule and insisted it should be outlawed.

However, there has been no word from Taylor Swift herself, and whether the public outcry will influence the concert organizers' decision remains to be seen.
