According to reports, the hip-hop duo performed in Los Angeles for Grammy Salute to 50 Years of Hip-hop.
DJ Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith performed songs like ‘Brand New Funk’ and ‘Summertime’ amongst others. The Hancock actor donned his Phillies hip-hop overalls, shedding his actor’s suit. During their ‘Summertime’ performance, rappers like Flavor Flav and DJ D-Nice joined them on stage. Smith and Jazzy Jeff’s first hip-hop act to claim awards was also US Billboard Hot 100 Top 20 singles.

Although he did miss the grandeur Gala, Smith took to his Instagram to pen a heartfelt tribute for the same. In his Instagram post, he put a throwback image with an inviting caption. The 55-year-old actor made sure to honor the genre that kick-started his career.
The Fresh Prince wrote, “Happy 50th Birthday, Hip Hop. You’ve given me the life of my dreams. Thank you… Love; Will”. His throwback mood was amplified by the picture with Darryl Matthews McDaniels, Joseph Simmons, and Jam Master Jay. Therefore, despite not being part of the February celebrations, Will ensured to make up for it by commemorating the occasion with a fitting tribute.
