“G.O.A.T” - Pride Swells Among Fans as Ye’s ‘Vultures’ Track Scores Top Spot for 2024 Hip-Hop Sales
The hype around 'Vultures' by Ye, formerly Kanye West, just keeps getting bigger. Even though some might argue that its rollout was chaotic and poorly thought out, plenty of fans who can look past the drama have enjoyed it. There is a track for every taste on this album. And not to mention, it was taken down from streaming sites multiple times, yet it still topped charts in over a hundred countries. Now, it has smashed yet another record.
Recent data on total units sold reveals that Ye, Ty Dolla $ign, Playboi Carti & Rich The Kid's 'Carnival' is now the top-selling hip-hop single in the U.S. for 2024. The chart-topping album by Ye and Ty Dolla $ign has been piling up accolades ever since its debut. 'Vultures 1' wrapped up its debut week with 148,000 sales in the US, added with a massive 168 million streams and 18,000 copies sold as a complete package, as per Luminate tracking service.

With 'Vultures 1', Ye is back on top for the first time since ‘Donda’ in 2021. Now with ‘Carnival’, Ye also broke a 13-year dry spell, marking his first No. 1 single on Billboard Hot 100 since his feature on Katy Perry’s ‘E.T.’- his first as a lead artist since 2007. At 46, the ‘Graduation’ creator is now the oldest rapper to achieve this milestone, and given the challenges he has faced in recent times, this achievement is all the more impressive.
The track's success, along with the album as a whole, reaffirmed fans' faith in Ye as the greatest rapper of all time.
Fans rejoiced at Ye's return to the top with Vultures
'Carnival' easily stole fans' hearts as the top pick from the album, and the streak from ‘Do It’ to ‘Carnival’ could easily be considered one of Ye's greatest runs ever. The track also found itself caught in a couple of controversies along the way, but that has become par for the course. Nonetheless, fans flooded social media with admiration for Ye as word of his latest sales achievement spread.
Some also brought up his feud with Drake, which everyone got a taste of during Ye's fiery celebration of 'Carnival' earlier this month.
There was, however, a shared feeling among everyone that the ‘College Dropout’ creator is truly the G.O.A.T in the rap world.
