“Frozen”- Taylor Swift Revisits the Infamous VMA Night With Kanye West in a Heartfelt Speak Now Prologue 14 Years Later
Taylor Swift has now dropped her re-recorded album, but it is also making sounds because of Kanye West. One of the biggest country singers faced a very public controversy caused by an equally big hip-hop artist back in 2009. The world gasped and kept a close eye for years to come. Both artists have moved on now, with Swift keeping mum for long. With the release of ‘Speak Now’, fans see her pouring her heart out.
Through time, different celebrities have given their recount of the VMA incident. But nearly fourteen years after the infamous 2009 event, her album release on 7th July came with a long and detailed prologue of life and lessons.

Artists often express themselves through their work, and Taylor Swift is absolutely one of them. They speak of more than her dating history, and ‘Speak Now’ in particular talks of her hardships between ages 18-20. A fan on Reddit who possesses the physical copy of the album posted the prologue that came with it. This is where she touched on the infamous ‘mic grab’ moment.
Referring to it as the ‘worldwide scandal’, she explained how the ‘Yeezus’ singer grabbing her mike left the pressure on her to react. At 19, she did not want to seem impolite and wrote, “I had frozen“, expressing her feeling at the time. Even the album name came with the saying ‘speak now or forever’ hold your peace’, but by speaking, she wanted to end the surrounding speculation.
Ye is not new to controversies, but the ‘Fearless’ singer has only expressed herself through her songs instead of harsh interviews.

No one expected Kanye West to go up on stage and grab the mike from Taylor Swift when she won the Best Female Video Award for ‘You Belong with Me’. As per him, Beyoncé deserved the award for ‘All The Single Ladies’. It left a young Swift in shock and she broke down behind the stage later.
Ye received intense backlash for acting rudely, especially to a 19-year-old, and he admitted his mistake. Even former boyfriend Taylor Lautner recently revealed how he thought it was all a setup until he saw his then-girlfriend crying. Fans can now expect a detailed expression of it all, in ‘Speak Now’.
