From "keep it” to "need", Fans Are Split Over Drake’s Upcoming Album With PARTYNEXTDOOR

2024 has been a year where Hip-Hop's pulse was louder than ever, yet the man who once swaggered as its heartbeat has been noticeably quiet, Drake. Involved in an intense rap battle with Kendrick Lamar, Drake took the battle out of the 'rap battle' as he failed to stand through even the first round. Lamar, on the other hand, continued to fire shots even after his retreat. When fans had lost all hope, fortunately so, Drake made a return with an album announcement.

While the audiences would have loved to see Drizzy fire his shots, he was busy digging out the best raft that would help him and his fanbase move on from the aftermath of 'Not Like Us'. A smart decision on Drake's part has garnered contrasting opinions from fans online. Regardless, the rapper is set to release an album with PARTYNEXTDOOR.

The Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR album has been hyped up since the beginning of the year as both artists have continued to push it. While it will be their first collaborative album, the two Canadian hot-shots have earlier joined hands on the chart-topping track 'Members Only' which was released a year ago.

Despite the stakes being high for this album like it always is in the case of Drake, who is known to release bangers, the reactions could not have been any more predictable.

Drake garners hot and cold reaction from fans over PARTYNEXTDOOR album announcement

As Drake suavely opted for the age-old trick when backed in a corner, do not fight, change the narrative. And if you can not win the battle, just skip to the part where you make your grand return. While the plan was all set in stone, the part skeptic and part ecstatic reaction of fans is something even this media-savvy rapper could not have predicted.

While some fans roared about their dire "need" for a Drake album, others blatantly rejected the idea as they suggested the rapper "keep it."

The reactions following the album announcement were more or less similar to that of the rap battle that Drake lost with fans either viciously supporting him or trying to bring him down. However, many noted how this was the best "post loss" decision Drake could have taken. Whether this new offering will mend the fractured fandom or sink under the weight of its own calculated timing, only time, and perhaps a few cutting reviews, will tell.
