The moment an artist savors the sweet taste of success, there is no turning back. And as Kendrick Lamar set the Super Bowl LIX halftime stage ablaze in New Orleans, one thing was crystal clear: Lamar is not going anywhere, no matter who tries to shake his throne. Right off the lyrical war that had him locked in legal crosshairs over Drake-directed diss spree, K-Dot was already dancing dangerously close to the flames. But just as his halftime performance became a historic touchdown, Lamar kept momentum rolling aside SZA with a major power move in his home turf.

If 2025 had a theme, it would be “The Year of Kendrick Lamar,” with the Super Bowl serving as a mere pit stop to his legendary status as he moves to total wipe out with SZA.

Kendrick Lamar is right here to prove anyone wrong who thinks he does not belong. After owning the 2025 Grammys and sweeping all the five categories he was nominated for, Lamar made headlines with an unforgettable Super Bowl LIX halftime performance with guest performer, SZA. However, according to Chart Data on X, while Lamar and SZA were rendering audiences spellbound in real-time in New Orleans, their superhit track ‘All the Stars’ marked a historic feat, with over 10 million units sold in the US.

‘All the Stars’ is a collaborative track between K-Dot and SZA, released in 2018, serving as the lead single to the soundtrack album of Ryan Coogler’s Marvel flick, Black Panther. Even during the halftime show, star-studded with guest appearances by Samuel L. Jackson, and Serena Williams, K-Dot and SZA performed ‘All the Stars,’ proving its timeless appeal 7 years down the line.

While this is just one of the many wins Kendrick Lamar and SZA witnessed by each other recently, before taking center stage, the Grammy-winning rapper also shed light about collaborating with her for the Super Bowl.

Kendrick Lamar opens up about his Super Bowl LIX collaboration with SZA

In a trailer released two weeks ago, SZA was seen pouring Gatorade on Kendrick Lamar on a football field—a not-so-subtle cue of saying she was heading to the Super Bowl with the ‘GNX’ artist. But before the dynamic duo went up on stage to leave fans speechless with their powerhouse performances on tracks including ‘squabble up,’ ‘HUMBLE,’ ‘DNA,’ and of course, ‘Not Like Us,’ K-Dot chatted with Apple during a press conference, expressing how it has been “amazing to see” SZA’s growth.

Lamar recounted observing SZA from the get-go when she stepped into the studio to write songs just to scribble and trash it away to write another. “Songs are hard,” and Lamar gets it. However, to see all that tiresome process finally giving back in the form of fruits of success, the Compton-born rapper could not be happier for the ‘30 for 30’ artist, especially having known “she always had it.” “I’m just honored to be next to her talent,” Lamar added, underscoring that each time they join forces, a historic touchdown becomes inevitable.
