"F**k the label"- Travis Scott Tells Iconic Ye Story Before Streaming Release of His 2014 Album, ‘Days Before Rodeo'
Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, may have established himself as the undying fountain of unpredictability in recent years, but there are two things that, despite his sand-like shift, have remained a constant. Firstly, his relationship with Travis Scott. Secondly, his fight against labels to allow artists to gain full control of their music.
Since his comeback into the music world this year things have become way different with streamers drawing back every now and then owing to Ye being unable to complete his end of the bargain, there was once a time his devotion towards the rights of music artists, love for Travis Scott, and friction with music labels, gave birth to a masterpiece.

Travis Scott has never missed a chance to flex his mentor-trainee dynamic with Ye. This has become especially evident this year with the former aiding Ye's grand comeback this year. However, Scott took things further up a notch as he reposted Ye's Instagram story where he was streaming 'Mamacita' and revealed how the artist had been the one to encourage him to get the album out, despite the label's disagreement. To be specific, Ye had said "F**k the label drop that sh*t."
Ye is often found cherishing the musical prowess of Scott, but the tale behind 'Mamacita' and his involvement in the 'Days Before Radio' album's blockbuster release was a mystery until Scott revealed the nitty grittys. As Scott celebrated the release of 'Days Before Radio' on Spotify, he could not help but be overwhelmed with gratitude for Ye, who had always been there to nudge him in the right direction.
While he may be embroiled in controversies right up to his neck, Ye's stance for music artists and their right to own their music has been one of the best causes he has advocated for.

There is no denying that having Ye anywhere near a camera, a mic, or even a crowd for that matter, comes with its risks. The artist has quite the opinions, earning him the title of an unsung genius among many, and he is not afraid to express them. However, in 2020, these strong opinions led Ye to pick up a fight against a longstanding tradition of the music industry; ownership of an artist's masters by the record label.
Ye revealed how in the streaming space, one's masters, which in the music world stands for, the original recording made by the artist who ultimately has the right to license it for various purposes. However, most record labels state in their contract that the original records would be owned by them. This skirmish with big-name labels has resulted in Ye having quite a flammable career since then.
