Since bursting in the summer of 2022, rapper Ice Spice has been absolutely everywhere. From TikTok’s For You Page to sitting front row at New York Fashion Week, it is almost hard to scroll or swipe without catching a glimpse of her signature orange curls and earworm tracks. She became one of the biggest breakout stars of last year, and her presence has only grown since then. However, with a growing fan base also comes critics, and Ice Spice has attracted plenty of them. Recently, those critics came together again to take shots at the artist.

Ice Spice made an appearance at the BronxWorks Girls Empowerment Day this week in The Bronx, New York. Alongside participating in Q&A sessions with young attendees and highlighting her dedication to community engagement, the rapper also performed her song 'Hannah Montana' as part of the performance series From The Block. This came right after Ice Spice announced that her debut album would be getting a deluxe upgrade with five new tracks, including 'Hannah Montana,' featuring DaBaby and NLE Choppa.

The project, titled 'Y2K! : I’m Just A Girl (Deluxe),' has sparked a lot of conversation online. Before the release, Ice Spice even let her fans vote on the album cover, giving them the choice between a pink or blue design, both created by David LaChapelle. The deluxe version is expected to drop around midnight on December 25. But from the looks of it, fans have not been too impressed by the teasers so far.

The hype surrounding the deluxe version of Ice Spice’s album seems to have fizzled slightly after her From The Block performance.

The album 'Y2K!' first dropped in July 2024, but despite its exciting features, it did not exactly set the world—or the charts—on fire. The album sold 28,000 copies in its first week and debuted at No. 18 on the Billboard 200. While those numbers were not what some had hoped for, Ice Spice was not bothered. Instead, she is moving full steam ahead with a deluxe version of the album. Even so, fans have not exactly been jumping out of their seats over the teasers they have gotten so far.

Some fans, nonetheless, have shown love for the song cover and are hyped for what is to come.
