Not your average artist, Kendrick Lamar does not churn out an album year in and year out, but whenever he does, it effectively shakes up the charts. However, this time around, neither did Lamar release an album nor did he simply shake up just the charts. With just a couple of diss tracks, the artist whirled the entire Hip Hop scene to life, shaking up the career of the arguable music mogul, Drake.

With Drake backing out after a subpar hit in the name of a diss and Kendrick Lamar proceeding to drop an equally welcomed music video almost four months after the track, this rap battle remains top tier. And it seems that the Billboard charts agree with the 'Not Like Us' track reigning as the longest-running No. 1 song on the Billboard Rap Chart. However, fans are a bit thrown off by their acclaimed 'Short King' attaining this title.

'Not Like Us' was buzzing on every social media platform, and not just the streaming majors. Moreover, the diss was being roared out by fans not just at the Kendrick Lamar concert but at Drake's hometown itself. Therefore, while fans are not surprised that the song is reigning at No.1, they are surprised that it is the one rap song that has held the spot for the longest.

Kendrick Lamar's Billboard No.1 comes at a bitter sweet cost

While he might essentially identify as a rap artist, Kendrick Lamar still ranks supreme owing to the art that he delivers. From fans still being sour about him losing a certain Grammy and an Oscar, their reaction to his big win at the Billboard rap chart comes as a surprise. Fans have expressed their surprise over the fact that people are still streaming 'Not Like Us' in October, implying that it was not necessarily timeless music.

While it is true that one major reason behind the song's reputation was Kendrick Lamar striking when the iron was still hot, it went on to become an anthem for days, with even Drake fans resigning.

In either case, it seems to be a win-win for Kendrick Lamar, who not only won the rap battle but also reigns supreme on the charts.
