Fans Declare “war” as Ye and Taylor Swift Clash for #1 Spot With Their Arsenal of Variants

One might not be well-versed in the music of Taylor Swift and Ye, aka Kanye West, or their lives- but even the smallest bird in the trees knows about the notorious feud that has made these music moguls pop culture favorites. And it seems, they have once again found themselves in each other's orbit. Earlier this month, Ye finally dropped his long-awaited album ‘Vultures 2’, after several month-long delays. Just hours after his release, Taylor Swift unveiled a new digital edition of ‘The Tortured Poets Department.’

This has led fans to speculate that Taylor Swift might be trying to block Ye from topping the charts, as she has allegedly done with several other artists. However, Ye was not one to sit back and let his thunder be stolen without a fight. The 'Donda' rapper responded by releasing six new deluxe album versions, which he is selling for $5 on his Yeezy website. Before these multiple drops, first-week sales projections hinted that Ye might trail behind Swift and her endless stream of variant drops.

According to Billboard 200 chart projections, 'The Tortured Poets Department' was likely to continue its months-long reign at No. 1, with 125,000 album units, including 68,000 in album sales. Although Ye’s initial sales numbers were lower than Swift’s, with 68,000 album units from both sales and streaming, the winds might change direction now that these 'Vultures 2' variants have hit the shelves.

Regardless of the outcome, Ye and Swift’s fanbases have plunged into a social media battle to defend their respective music icons.

Ye and Taylor Swift fans have already locked horns

'The Tortured Poets Department' is officially the longest-running chart-topper on the Billboard 200. However, Ye’s 'Vultures 2', at least initially, received mixed reactions from his own fans. The album also faced accusations of AI use and unauthorized sampling. Whether Ye will be able to surpass Swift’s record and claim the No. 1 spot, or if the ‘Cruel Summer’ pop star will emerge as the undisputed champion, has led fans to declare a "war" on X.

While some criticized Taylor Swift for allegedly being chart-greedy, others remained optimistic about her defeating Ye.

Ye also chose to include a nod to Swift and her boyfriend Travis Kelce on 'Vultures 2' in the Lil Wayne track 'Lifestyle (Demo).' Allegedly, the pop star also responded to the nod by wearing an Eras Tour T-shirt reading, "I Bet You Think About Me". With the disses flowing from both sides, it is clear that the 15-year-old feud still has some unfinished business, making this chart battle all the more thrilling.
