Unfortunately for them, the chances of the singer attending the award are slim, given her ongoing Eras Tour. But keen-eyed fans beg to differ as they dissect Gomez’s recent Instagram story.

An hour ago, Selena Gomez put up fresh Instagram stories while on her way to the MTV VMA 2023. Her first story saw her vibing to her song with Rema, ‘Calm Down’, which bagged a nomination under the new Afrobeats category. Her second story is what interests fans, however, as it featured her in a seemingly red dress and a white heart that seemed to cover someone’s face. Swifties believe it will be a Taylena entrance this year at the VMAs. Unfortunately for them, the Only Murders in the Building actress showed up at the carpet sans Swift but oozing charm. But that doesn’t mean the fans’ suspicions were wrong.

While the speculation may be right because Taylor Swift is here to slay in what looks like her ‘Reputation’ era, donning a long black dress with a long slit. She paired the dress with black stilettos and a layer of metal chains, completing her look. Naturally, fans picked up on the Reputation-era-esque clothing, with comments like “REPUTATION??” and “Reputation era Taylor is here 😩.”

With their suspicions proven right, detective Swifties must be proud of themselves.

Argentinian fans weren’t far behind either as they too questioned the white heart in Gomez’s story with a tweet that translates to, “Selena Gómez uploaded a story covering someone with a heart. Could it be Taylor?”

Meanwhile, some fans believe in the iconic-ness of this year’s VMAs to lure Swift in.
