Everything to Know About the Experimental Dentist Behind Kanye West’s Titanium Grills and Other Celebrity Smiles
Throughout fashion history, trends have come and gone. While most celebrities tend to hop on to most trends, there are only a few who can take them to a whole new level. Kanye West has proved time and time again to be one of those people. From bejeweled face masks to diamond grills, the rapper has given the world some looks they will never forget. However, now he seems to have upgraded his smile to look like a classic James Bond villain.
The 46-year-old had a little help from an experimental dentist, who has worked with various other celebrities like Lil Yachty and Offset over the years.

Just days ago, Playboi Carti stunned social media with a screenshot of his conversation with Kanye West. While it shut down rumors of a feud, fans could not help but notice that the rapper was showing off some brand-new grills in a picture in the chat. It was his $850,000 worth of denture implants that were created by Dr. Thomas Connelly. They were made of titanium and were inspired by the James Bond character Jaws. The dentist behind it was said to work closely with other celebrities and their well-known smiles.
Lil Yachty
Dr. Thomas Connelly might be getting recognized for his work for Kanye West. However, the experimental dentist has been in the spotlight with various other rappers before. Just last year, he teamed up with Lil Yachty to create over $1 million worth of diamond grill set. The work had the rapper grinning from ear to ear to show off his four new veneers. All four of them were 16 carats, he revealed in his story.
While that was his most recent set, Yachty is no stranger to mouth jewelry. After all, back in 2017, he spent $35,000 on Rainbow Grills. The rapper sported the look for a while before deciding that it was too flashy for him. After that, he ended up spending another $80,000 for a set of pearly white teeth instead.
The 26-year-old might not be done experimenting with pieces of jewelry for his teeth. However, he is not the only one continuing the trend of grills.
Offset
In the world of rap artists, it has always been common to see some bedazzled teeth. That has rung true for many famous artists, including Offset, who has copied Kanye West’s trends more than once. Apart from his music, he has become known for his stunning jewelry collection as well. From Cuban chains to tennis bracelets and even diamond grills, he has filled his collection with things he loves. Just last year, the 32-year-old bought a 40-carat diamond set from Dr. Thomas Connelly.
The self-proclaimed “Father of Diamond Dentistry” had put up stories and posts of the set they had created on social media. The new set came after Offset had already got a permanent diamond baguette that cost him about $500k in 2019. While his new look is a little more minimal, there is no saying how long he will stick to it.
Shaq
For years, Shaquille O’Neal dazzled the NBA world with his perfectly aligned pearly whites. While his teeth were as perfect as they could be, the star was not happy with it. Just last year, he took the stage at Encore Beach Club in Las Vegas to show off a diamond-plated smile. According to Dr. Thomas Connelly’s Instagram highlights, the basketball star had spent around $100 million for his entire set of small stones.
Although Shaq has not confirmed how much he spent on it, the two men have been spotted together at a club where his son Myles was handling DJ for an event. With the 51-year-old putting too much into his new look, there is no doubt that he will not be changing it anytime soon.

Another key member in Dr. Thomas Connelly’s journey as an experimental dentist was the American football star, Odell Beckham Jr. The Baltimore Ravens wide receiver might be one of the most popular players of his generation. However, that does not mean he too does not give in to certain trends. Back in 2021, just like his musical counterparts, the 31-year-old ended up spending over $1.8 million for a diamond set of teeth.
The set consisted of 28 pieces for complete mouth reconstruction. According to the dentist’s Instagram, the set was made of white gold and had 13 carats of diamonds on just the upper half. While it might be one of his most expensive purchases, there was no doubt that the former first-round draft pick has no regrets.
