Every Ye Halloween Costumes From the Past That Still Remain Iconic
Ye aka Kanye West’s fan-favorite mini-me, North West, may be busy curating her Halloween look-book this year with her style stumbling on the ‘CHROMAKOPIA’ rapper’s doorstep. But just in case she needs a last-minute spooky shift from the pre-decided themes, North’s father has quite the collection of ideas, having served the pumpkin theatrics without a miss every season. Though the past few years have seen other stars raiding his and Bianca Censori’s daring daily wardrobe, the ‘Vultures’ rapper still reigns supreme every pumpkin season's look-book.
As the horror week creeps in, let us take a spine-tingling stroll down memory lane to explore every Halloween costume Ye has donned in the past.
Ye’s Stone-Age Halloween Inspiration

If there is anything that sometimes surpasses even Ye’s passion for music, it is the rapper’s fashion brain. Though he has done quite the brainstorming in couture businesses, the fashion flex he brought every pumpkin festival remains second to none. Hence, the first of the Halloween looks that live rent-free for fans is when he and his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian alongside their little squad went all out for Halloween in 2019 with a prehistoric costume showcase of The Flintstones.
Saint and North West led the stone-age group like Fred and Wilma Flintstone while Chicago sported a red wig as Pebbles with a faux bone. While Kardashian played Betty Rubble with a tiny Bamm Bamm, Psalm West, in her arms, the rapper was undeniably the most committed to his character who covered himself head to toe in a Dino costume to portray the Flintstone family pet.
Ye’s Turn to Sing
For fans who thought the prehistoric time capsule was all Ye had in store for 2019’s Halloween, well, think twice. It turns out that the father of four actually went trick-or-treating in an entirely different costume after slipping into the Stone Age mood board, dressed as characters from Sing.
Kim Kardashian shared some adorable pictures on her Instagram that reveal Saint as Johnny, Ye as Johnny’s dad—the gorilla gang crime leader, Psalm as Johnny’s brother, and Chicago as Ash. And once again, no one embodied the character quite like the rapper did with that voluminous belly in a Gorilla costume complementing the perfect Sing crew. However, that year had more in the fashion store of spooky season.
Ye’s Bugging Halloween
In 2019, the West Kardashian clan truly left no stone unturned in showcasing a myriad of outfits. While each costume was a hit, the third one was especially haunting. Ye, Kardashian, and their four children made a spine-tingling debut as futuristic yet creepy insects. Kardashian dubbed their ensemble “West Worms” on Instagram, flaunting incredibly realistic bug features like antennas, bug-eye goggles, and oversized insect limbs protruding in every direction.
The real fright, however, came from Ye’s costume, complete with a monstrous mask with little tongues that moved thanks to animatronics. Although Kardashian claimed her outfit glowed, there was no doubt Ye was the ultimate spooky showstopper!
Ye Fights the Clown Prince of Crime
Sin City welcomed a few fresh faces this year, but most missed the mark with their villainous overtures. However, Ye knew from the start that if he were to make his entrance into Gotham, he would do it as a savior by ensuring the Dark Knight rose again in 2012. At Kim Kardashian’s Halloween bash at the LIV nightclub in Miami, the Kardashian-West crew made quite the statement with their meticulously crafted Bat-themed ensemble.
The SKIMS CEO dazzled in a Catwoman outfit inspired by Michelle Pfeiffer's iconic look from Batman Returns, while the rapper played the role of his then-wife's own Bruce Wayne. Kourtney Kardashian rocked a Batgirl costume, and Scott Disick channeled the classic comic Robin.
If you think they saved Gotham City with this epic group costume, wait until you see what comes next.
Ye’s Horrors with Balenciaga Before Fallout
Masks emerged as one of the most disturbing elements that obstructed fashion after the pandemic, but only Ye and Kim Kardashian could conjure them into a moment of Halloween haute couture. While many assumed masks were the rapper's go-to style, Kardashian proved that every fashion cue is her cup of tea.
At Kendall Jenner’s spooky 25th birthday-cum-Halloween bash in Los Angeles, Kardashian wowed in an eerie ensemble, donning a red satin dress and tights from Balenciaga’s 2020 Fall collection, complete with a gimp-style mask and an impossibly long red ponytail. Meanwhile, the ‘Donda’ rapper hinted at his future Met Gala look in a similarly sinister black masked outfit, featuring glowing white neon accents and a glass-shielded mask designed by Balenciaga's Demna Gvasalia.
Although this goes without saying, all these events unfolded prior to the horror show that was the rapper’s fallout with the brand, before Kardashian was crowned the brand’s ambassador.
Ye’s Thriller Era

Once upon a time, Halloween parties were Ye’s playground, and his fashion horror look-book tells the tale. In 2019, the rapper summoned the spirit of the King of Pop during the Darby Halloween party he hosted, evoking the magic of Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ era. While North West also paid tribute to Jackson, Ye fully embraced the transformation in that iconic red letterman jacket and jheri curl wig.
This year, North may have strayed from her father’s Halloween inspiration to channel someone else, but she still has an entire vault of fashion fright to draw from since, after all, Ye reigns supreme as the father of Halloween couture.
