Even After ‘Vultures’ Rave Controversy, Kanye West Still Pursues Backstreet Boys for a Sample
On his mission to reclaim his glory of being a rap mogul, Kanye West was all set to treat his fans to his upcoming album, ‘Vultures’. After a long wait, the album’s release got pushed back to January next year due to reasons not entirely clear. The major speculation has been that ‘Vultures’ was stopped in its tracks due to two of its tracks carrying samples, including one by Backstreet Boys, that the 46-year-old did not have permission to use.
Amidst all this, it seems that Ye and his team are still pushing hard to give his fans what they want.

A fan-run page on Twitter (previously X) had announced that West’s rendition of Backstreet Boys’ 90s track, ‘Everybody’, from ‘Vultures’ would drop earlier today. However, this did not happen. Now, the page has shared an update revealing that DJ Pharris, who sang the vocals of Backstreet Boys’ song by the same name as Ye’s version, is trying to clear the sample so the track can launch.
When West took to Miami to unleash a rave that doubled as a listening party for parts of his ‘Vultures’ album, one thing that sent fans over the moon was this very version of ‘Everybody’. When later reports surfaced that he did not have permission to sample the score’s beats, some felt it was reckless for a senior artist like West to use a sample without the go-ahead from its owners.
As it turned out, Backstreet Boys was not the only artist wronged by West that night.
The similar tug-of-war between Kanye West and Nicky Minaj
During the rave, another familiar voice that boomed through the speakers was that of Nicki Minaj. Well, Ye had apparently used her ‘New Body’ track to deliver a remix version by him and Ty Dolla $ign. Well, this did not sit well with the Young Money Records singer. When she refused to allow the 24-time Grammy winner to take this liberty, West even lashed out at her.

Ye was supposedly confused as to why Minaj was disallowing the use of her track when he had always “supported” her. However, fans remained in the ‘Barbie World’ rapper’s corner as this went down on X. Whether she will give in to his wishes still remains to be seen. It looks like the ‘Donda’ rapper is now going through similar motions to convince Backstreet Boys to allow him to sample ‘Everbody’.
