Eminem Joins the Taylor Swift Fan Club After Showering Praises for the Pop Star
Artists often die a thousand deaths in pursuit of excellence in their craftsmanship. Yet, some, like Taylor Swift, seem to achieve it all in one lifetime, like a superwoman at work. Her fanbase has grown beyond national borders, attracting global attention and endorsements from top celebrities across various fields. One of the most recent additions to the exclusive Swiftie club is Detroit rapper Eminem. The 51-year-old rapper recently lavished praise on the 'Karma' singer in his signature Slim Shady style.
After dethroning Swift from making Billboard history, Eminem acknowledged the pop star's extraordinary success, noting that she has truly lived all nine lives or her eras, one may say, to reach her level of achievement.

Eminem recently dropped his new album, ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce),’ and in one of its recent promotional videos, he namedropped Taylor Swift. Although he refers to this album as the end of the era of his Slim Shady persona, the Detroit rapper engages with his former self in a new YouTube video for Complex. In the video, Slim Shady takes several jabs at his less controversial alter ego, Marshall Mathers, stating “You’re not f**king Taylor Swift. You had one era that mattered… mine.”
Released on July 30, the promo video complements the album, which explores the “death” of Eminem’s old, often controversial but highly successful persona. The theme of the record mirrors and somewhat parallels Swift’s ‘Reputation’ era, where she declared in the lead single, ‘Look What You Made Me Do,’ that the “old Taylor” was dead. This time, however, it is Slim Shady who “can’t come to the phone” because, as the album suggests, he is dead.
Although Eminem recently poked fun at his former self by elevating Taylor Swift to a pedestal of recognition, his latest album was the one that ended the pop icon’s historic run on the Billboard charts.

Despite making headlines with her 12-week streak at the top of the Billboard 200 with ‘The Tortured Poets Department,’ Eminem’s The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)' officially ended Taylor Swift’s three-month reign. Swift’s album dropped from the top spot to fourth place, with 82,000 units sold in its 13th week. The second and the third spot went to the K-pop group ENHYPEN, whose latest record 'Romance: Untold' sold 124,000 units, followed by Zach Bryan's 'The Great American Bar Scene' which moved 88,00 units.
Eminem’s new release sold 281,000 units, making it his 11th album to hit the top of the charts. While the dip was somewhat expected, it was still disappointing to see a beloved pop star’s reign come to an end. Nonetheless, with Eminem’s recent comments about Swift, it is clear as daylight that he acknowledges her success even as he has just surpassed her.
