What happens when you combine a controversial yet influential rapper and a controversial and influential billionaire? A recipe for trouble. Kanye West, who has had his share of ups and downs on Twitter (now called X) over the past year, once again found himself violating the platform’s guidelines. Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter and a former ‘friend’ of the West, has suspended his account once again today after just an hour of having him back.

The rapper who now goes by the name of Ye was back on Twitter just an hour ago at the time of writing. A blue sphere as a display picture and his website link was the only visible content or information on his verified profile. The account was the same one that was suspended, as it listed 2010 as the joining year.

However, it all soon fell apart. The ‘Donda’ singer’s profile vanished in the blink of an eye after returning after seven months of ban. What triggered the ban this time is unknown. However, West was last suspended by Musk in December 2022 following his anti-semitic tweets and antics. The rapper had gone on to great lengths in violating the terms and conditions of the social media giant. Even after the initial leniency shown by Musk, the rapper showed no signs of stopping.

Elon Musk who had famously reinstated Kanye West after an initial ban by former owners Jack Dorsey had done so as a ‘friend’ and to protect ‘free speech.’ However, in December, last year, the series of tweets posted by the rapper were allegedly directed at hate speech which prompted the ban. Now, after months, history repeats again.

The rapper’s tweets back in 2022 caused a wide stir, even leading brands to sever ties with him as well as major social media companies locking him out.

Kanye West has an infamous history of Twitter bans

Kanye West, or Ye, has faced controversy and censorship on Twitter for a long. Apart from last December ban, West’s previous ban on Twitter took place in October 2022 after he wore a T-shirt with the phrase “White Lives Matter” during his Paris Fashion Week show. Although West returned to Twitter in December 2022, he soon posted another tweet containing content that targeted Jewish people and attacked Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Everyone knows what happened next.

The tweets cost Kanye West dearly as he lost on almost all major deals with brands. Adidas who had partnered with him broke out of his Yeezy deal. Moreover, ex-wife Kim Kardashian broke out in a video distressed with the rapper’s morale.
