Music battles, be it for making the Billboard chart one's own or winning the Grammy race, always serve as the prime reason for entertainment for fans. And by battles, it is not just Taylor Swift and Ye’s (formerly Kanye West) everlasting feuds or Drake and Kendrick Lamar locking loggerheads at each other for songs together. At times, it could be as random as stan wars over social media episodes. For instance, the Katy Perry and Lady Gaga drama had fans of both stars go into a civil war over a petty trend. 

Bringing back the decade-old feud, fans on X took to revive the stan war, still deciding upon the rightful winner. The infamous Katy Perry vs Lady Gaga feud still resonates in pop culture history as fans are seemingly not done with this one. Dating back to 2013, the tension began when both artists released highly-anticipated singles, ‘Roar’ and ‘Applause’, around the same time. 

Fans of both sides, ‘Katy Cats’ and ‘Little Monsters’, as they refer to themselves, clashed on social media, accusing each other of sabotage and superiority. The online turf war escalated, prompting Lady Gaga to intervene, urging her fans to "STOP THE DRAMA. START THE MUSIC." Despite her efforts, the feud left a lasting impression on the music industry, highlighting the darker side of fandom and the dangers of online bullying.

Even after 11 years of the incident, fans on social media are still not over the feud as the battle continues to this day and they try to crown a winner. 

As seen today, fans are fiercely divided in the Katy Perry vs Lady Gaga debate. While Gaga's followers, the Little Monsters, claim the Grammy winner's title speaks for itself, Katy Perry's Katy Cats have refused to back down. Despite being mocked, they continue to argue their side. Unlike in 2013, both the loyal fan bases remain stubborn, each convinced their idol reigns supreme. 

Amidst the chaos, a handful of users have emerged as voices of reason, urging both sides to put the drama to bed. 

The Lady Gaga and Katy Perry feud, however, is part of a larger issue. Female rivalry in pop culture. Be it Madonna versus Gaga, Britney Spears versus Christina, or Taylor Swift versus Billie Eilish and the entire clan. Over time, this has become a pattern; women pitted against women, fueling drama and divisiveness. Having shifted the focus from entertainment to calculated competition and stan wars, such instances are endless.
