Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa might not be the best of friends, but they have both admitted to having an amicable bond. This has been clear through little gestures like Swift sending Lipa a bouquet of flowers in 2018 or the two sharing the stage at the Amazon Prime Day concert in 2019. However, recently, there has been talk of some tension between the two, though it could very well just be fans' wild speculations. Regardless of whether there is any real tension between them, one thing is for sure- there is definitely some tension going on the charts.

Dua Lipa has recently outshined Taylor Swift with a new Billboard record after the Eras Tour star held her off the charts for most of the year.

Earlier this year, Taylor Swift was giving Dua Lipa a run for her money on the Billboard charts. In May, Swift even managed to hold off Lipa for the top spot on Australia’s albums chart. But it looks like the tables have turned. Recently, Dua Lipa broke the record for the most songs by a female artist to spend at least 52 weeks on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart, surpassing Taylor Swift, who had been leading that chart.

This happened right after the 2025 Grammy nominations were announced, where Dua Lipa was one of the biggest snubs of the year, along with other artists like Ariana Grande. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift earned six Grammy nominations this year. Even so, there has never been any real tension between Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa. That being said, they did end up in a bit of a controversy earlier this year.

Swifties took issue with one of Lipa’s interviews, interpreting it as a thinly veiled swipe at Swift, which quickly blew up into a huge backlash.

In September, Dua Lipa sat down for an interview with Anderson Cooper on the CBS show 60 Minutes. During their conversation, Cooper asked her about the criticism that her songs do not give a sense of who she is. In response, Lipa spoke out against musicians who use their personal lives to "attract people’s attention," explaining why her songs do not include references to her own private life. Swifties saw this as a direct shot at Taylor Swift.

The reason for that is pretty obvious. Swift is known for writing about her past relationships in her songs. In fact, she even seemed to hint at her breakup with ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn on her album 'The Tortured Poets Department.' Nonetheless, considering that all the tension between the two pop stars is mostly fan-imagined, any so-called feud between them should be taken with a grain of salt.
