Drake's Horrors Continue As Fresh Boos Welcome Him at A Hometown Concert in Toronto
It was back in the 2010s that Drake earned his 'biggest rapper alive' status. Fast forward to 2024, the rapper has bitter hate spewing out from other corners of the music internet. Following his royal rumble of the rap world with Kendrick Lamar, it has become even easier to hate Drake. Of course, none of the controversies would be as glaring if Drake was still churning out successful music. But that has not been the case for what feels like forever, especially post-2015.
A clear sign of just how polarizing the rapper has become was seen at a concert, where he was booed by his own Toronto homies.

Fred Durst decided to give a shoutout to Drake at the Limp Bizkit concert in Toronto on Thursday. "Did you know Drake’s here tonight?" Durst asked the concertgoers, which was met with a chorus of boos. Unable to make sense of the situation, Durst asked again, "I thought Drake was your homie? What? No?" which only made the boos even louder. He soon declared that Drake was still his homie, despite the clear rejection from the crowd, and performed 'Take a Look Around' dedicating it to Drake.
For years, not only loyal Drake fans, but also industry experts have accused the rapper of being too comfortable in his own success, which has led him to abandon making great albums. Nonetheless, when the rap war unleashed in its full form earlier this year, fans saw hope of seeing the Grammy-winner making a comeback. However, everyone consensually declared Kendrick Lamar the winner of the battle. And the horrors of the defeat have followed Drake everywhere, from streaming records to chart rankings.
In May, Kendrick Lamar edged past Drake by breaking one of his biggest records just after their diss war concluded.

Kendrick Lamar’s 'Not Like Us' was the track that led to Drake finally backing out from the war with 'The Heart Part 6'. Not only did Lamar’s diss track drag Drake’s reputation through the mud but also blew past the 'IDGAF' rapper’s streaming records. Earlier this year, 'Not Like Us' surpassed the 37-year-old’s 2018 hit 'God’s Plan' as the fastest rap song to reach 200 million streams.
The track even edged past Taylor Swift’s record and became one of Apple Music’s Top 5. This was followed by a music video where Lamar referenced his beef with Drake. The Pulitzer winner also rubbed salt in the wound at a pop-up concert, where he performed 'Not Like Us' five times in a row to close out the show. Meanwhile, Drake has gone quiet as a mouse following the end of the rap war. And given the public sentiment toward him at the moment, maybe he should lie low for a while longer.
