Don Toliver Shouts Out Kanye West at MTV VMAs 2023, for This Special Reason
If Kanye West is the king of controversies, then he is also the king of inspiration. If one starts to count the number of artists he inspired, then the list will be pretty long. While the rapper recently got a ban in Italy for his controversial act along with his wife Bianca Censori, the rapper got a shout-out on the pink carpet of the VMAs from yet another artist.
The MTV VMAs 2023 have kickstarted well at the Prudential Center with guest gracing the pink carpet with their talents. While the rapper is not going to attend the show, he did get a mention from Don Toliver, with whom he once collaborated on his iconic ‘Donda’ as well.

Just gracing the red carpet was American rapper Don Toliver. Also starring in the commercial with BACARDÍ celebrating 50 years of hip hop, the artist was asked about his first artist or song that made him “fall in love with hip hop.” To this, the artist mentioned none other than Kanye West. “I think with hip hop, I would have to say Kanye,” he mentioned.
He continued how he “really, really inspired him as a kid,” and how he has still survived the test of time, even today. Seems like 50 years of hip hop indeed cannot be complete without the mention of his name. Both Ye and Toliver have collaborated together on the iconic ‘Moon’ from ‘Donda’. While fans can still not get enough of this iconic track, seems like so cannot Kim Kardashian as well.

Back in August, Kardashian shared James Turrell’s artwork on her Instagram stories with ‘Moon’ playing in the background. With Toliver’s serene vocals, the song is indeed a gem that perfectly encapsulated the lunar vibe of the artwork. So, when Kardashian said on The Kardashians that she listens to his music with his kids, then she was indeed telling the truth as it surely seems she cannot enough of his ex-husband’s music.
While fans wait for his new album to drop soon amidst all of his squabbles, the rapper will always be adored for his contribution to hip-hop with his iconic music.
