Tinseltown stars are born with dreams ablaze in their eyes like supernovas in the night sky. But too often, they spend a lifetime proving how they stand apart from one another. Yet, collaborations are a way for artists to declare that, no matter how far their ambitions take them, there is a common thread that makes them dreamers. Even though separated by generations, Dolly Parton and Sabrina Carpenter’s harmonious collaboration is a testament to this truth. While Parton has long been the queen of brevity and sweetness, her team-up with Carpenter came with its own set of conditions.

Without a dot of commonality, Sabrina Carpenter and Dolly Parton would not be sharing a mic. But that does not mean either was fitted into another’s molds. Carpenter and Parton had their own set of key differences, resulting in mutual agreement on certain things before they collaborated for the ‘Please, Please, Please’ remix. In a recent interview with Knox News, Parton showered Carpenter with nothing but praises, even though the latter does “talk a little bad now and then.”

Parton recounted telling the ‘Espresso’ singer she does not badmouth, neither does she make “fun of Jesus” or “talk bad about God.” “I don’t say dirty words on camera, but known to if I get mad enough,” she added. This reportedly led Carpenter to do away with the R-rated chorus of ‘Please, Please, Please’ for her collaboration with Parton, with the pair opting for a cleaner version, “I beg you, don’t embarrass me like the others.”
In fact, Sabrina Carpenter hinted at Dolly Parton’s hardbound rule during the surprise announcement of the ‘Please, Please, Please’ remix collaboration with a sly mention.
