Did You Know Taylor Swift’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ Broke These Massive 11 Records After Release?
Ever since the 'Reputation' era when Taylor Swift completely disappeared from the limelight, only to make a comeback in the most ravishing way possible, the release of her albums has been considered more of a phenomenon than an ordinary drop. This stood true even for 'The Tortured Poets Department', which she announced while holding her 14th Grammy.
Leading to the days of the release, Swift followed her tried and tested practice of Easter eggs dropping, and this time around it may have worked even better than when it did for her previous albums, or so the number of records broken by 'The Tortured Poets Department' says.

Given her stature as one of the biggest pop stars in the world, Taylor Swift breaks records is a fact by now. However, the 'record-breaking' success is quite literal when it comes to 'The Tortured Poets Department', as it has already broken eleven monumental records days after its release, despite the contradictory reviews. The biggest records among the 11 include 'Historic Hot 100 Debut', 'Biggest Streaming Week of All Time', and 'Fastest Album to 1 Billion Streams on Spotify'.
Other smashed records are, 'Spotify's Most Pre-Saved Countdown', 'Single Week Vinyl Sales', 'Single Day Spotify Album and Song Streams', 'Apple Music Pop Albums', 'Historic Billboard 200 Debut', 'Most New Albums to Generate Hot 100 No.1s'. This does not come as a surprise, as the album had also broken records even before its release.
While these are streaming records that the artist has broken, the album has gained a superior edge owing to its vinyl sales.

In the modern era, it does not take more than a simple command or a flick of a finger to switch music on streaming platforms, in turn making music easily accessible. However, there is no denying that it has made it significantly easier for artists to become sensations owing to accessibility and ease. Only an artist truly confident in their power and talent would show the courage to release vinyl records. And Taylor Swift not only released vinyl copies but ended up selling 700,000 copies within a week.
Swift has been an advocate for vinyls for a long time and has also released them for her previous albums. However, 'The Tortured Poets Department' left them all behind with its staggering vinyl sales. With all the evidence in its favor, it will be quite difficult for critics to argue that Taylor Swift's latest album was not a hit.
