When it comes to a celebrity beef that is juicy enough to merit its own 6-episode Netflix series, the Taylor Swift-Ye feud undeniably takes the crown. Back in the day, when the drama began, Swift's nemesis went by the name Kanye West. Upon rolling the calendar forward a decade, the 'Donda' maestro has rebranded himself with a new name, and the country-pop sensation has joined the billionaire club. Yet, their feud refuses to fade from memory. Every hint of a direct or indirect run-in between them triggers memories of that fateful 2009 VMAs showdown.

Now, in 2024, both Swift and Ye are dominating headlines with their latest albums. And somehow, it seems their albums may have once again led the two to cross paths, with Swift following Ye's footsteps.

Ye is infamous for many reasons. However, one thing that cannot be taken away from him is his wise tactics of keeping fans on the edge of their seats. And Taylor Swift just pulled a similar stunt. After much anticipation, she finally dropped, 'The Tortured Poets Department.' But just when everyone thought the excitement was over, a mysterious countdown timer appeared on Swift's social media pages. While the countdown led to a 2 a.m. deadline, the pop star took everyone aback by announcing a "DOUBLE album" surprise, even before the clock struck 2.

Not sticking to their own timelines is a classic Ye move, often referred to as 'Kanye time.' During ‘Vultures 1’, Ye had everyone hooked with his teasers. Yet, it felt like chasing shadows most of the time. His breadcrumb trails often led to either dead ends with a long delay on every path or a random surprise that would shake the hip-hop ground. However, the 34-year-old’s surprise was not that random.

In the past few hours, Taylor Swift treated her fans to a pop-up library in Los Angeles and a teaser for the latest music video for 'The Tortured Poets Department.' And, of course, both were teeming with Easter eggs. But there was a curious coincidence- they both shared a common thread of the number 2. The clocks in the pop-up locations and the teaser video all displayed 2:00 and three clocks synchronized to the exact same time seemed too deliberate to be random.

Taylor Swift has been subtly throwing up the peace sign as well, which can also represent the number two. She made this gesture frequently during her Eras Tour performances and even incorporated it into her Grammys speech for 'The Tortured Pets Department.' Looking back now, it is clear that Swift was giving her fans clues about the surprise long before its official reveal. However, the only difference in Swift and Ye's ways of teasing fans? Swift dropped her surprise ahead of the anticipated timeline while with Ye, only delays hit the bar.
