Taylor Swift sparked fanaticism among her fanbase with the teasers for her literary venture tied to the Eras Tour. While the pop sensation is no stranger to breaking records, one elusive achievement will not be added to her collection: a spot on the New York Times Best-Seller list. According to Esquire’s report, this literary snub is not because of the book’s content but her distribution strategy. Swift bypassed traditional publishers in favor of self-publishing and selected Target as the exclusive retailer.
Though this move aligns with her desire for creative control, much like her AMC-only release for the Eras Tour concert film, it does not sit well with the Times’ tracking rules. As sources explain, books sold solely through a single retailer do not even qualify for the list. However, Alan Sorenson, a professor who studies the impact of best-seller lists on book sales spoke with Stanford Business to highlight that while lesser-known writers may see a boost with their names on the list, it does little to no difference for the ones with big names.
Since Swift is not just any name, the likelihood of her book defying the forecast is not out of possibility, especially after her fans were seen braving freezing temperatures to get their hands on it.
Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour Book brings out the bold fans in queues
Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour Book may not comply with the New York Times’ regulation to qualify for the best-seller list, but it is already one for the Swifties. After its thunderous initial print sales prediction, Reuters reported that hundreds and thousands of young fans and their parents were spotted lining up outside the US’ nearly 2000 Target stores on Black Friday to buy copies of the book, and her vinyl album.

Several agencies saw fans queuing up as early as 5 AM ET to purchase the book despite frosty temperatures. With everyone hoping to get their share of Swift merchandise, Target already anticipated a boost in their quarterly run. And now, with the prediction aligning perfectly like the forecasts with fans proving their loyalty to the pop star, Swift can still work her Eras magic here even without making it to the best-seller list this time around.
