Despite Being in Italy, Kanye West Misses Travis Scott Starrer ‘Aggro Dr1ft’ Premiere at Venice Film Festival
Prior to achieving his megastar status, Travis Scott was a budding rapper who held Kanye West in high esteem. As he went on to become an eminent hip-hop artist, Ye took him under his wing and became his mentor. The duo had shared the stage many times and even collaborated on several tracks. But besides being a chart-topping rapper, Scott is known to dabble in cinematic ventures as well. After making his directorial debut with Circus Maximus, he returned to acting in a movie as eccentric as him.
Through his latest flick titled Aggro Dr1ft, Scott tried his hands at a movie made in a rather unusual style of filmography. But his idol and the king of experimental art, West, was unavailable to give him his approval.

In the hands of director Harmony Korine, Aggro Dr1ft depicts an assassin’s quest exclusively through the lens of infrared photography. With its unique approach to cinematography, the film premiered at the Venice Film Festival. Although Kanye West was present in Italy at the time, he refused Korine’s invitation by not attending the premiere. According to West’s close friend, Saint Leon, Korine revealed this fact to him.
Besides the movie receiving mostly negative reviews, the ‘Utopia’ singer had to suffer the disappointment of West’s rejection. The Twitter (now X) post that uncovered this information also mentioned that Scott was only present in the movie for a mere 7 minutes. Which makes the fact that West sat it out a little more understandable. Or maybe the movie was just too edgy for the 46-year-old.
But it is equally possible that having just returned from Ireland, Ye was simply tired after the rather eventful journey.
What was Kanye West doing in Ireland?
To attend an annually occurring famed musical event called the Electric Picnic Festival, Kanye West flew to Ireland recently. While at the event, he was also spotted hugging R&B singer Steve Lacy. But the highlight of Ye’s presence at the event came in the form of a snippet from his next album, which he played at the festival.

Since his cameo at Travis Scott’s Utopia concert, the ‘Donda’ rapper’s fans have been reeling in anticipation for his upcoming album that he keeps hinting at. This must have made it all the more heartbreaking for his protégé when he shunned the chance of supporting Aggro Dr1ft and instead resumed work on his music.
