Debunked: Is Taylor Swift Really Performing at Adani Wedding in India, Here Is the Truth
Last year, Indian weddings became the talk of the world, thanks to the opulent $600 million Ambani wedding celebration. Along with the who is who of Hollywood, including Khloe and Kim Kardashian, John Cena, and Nick Jonas, the billionaire family also organized a parade of pop stars to perform, including Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, and Rihanna. Now, as another high-profile Indian wedding approaches, excitement is building over the possibility of Taylor Swift making her debut performance in India. But just how much truth is there to these rumors?
Here is the reality of whether Taylor Swift will truly make her debut in India for her first-ever performance—that too, at a wedding!

Chairman of the Adani Group, Gautam Adani, recently addressed the ongoing rumors surrounding the wedding of his younger son, Jeet Adani. Speaking at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Adani confirmed that Jeet Adani will have a "simple," "traditional," and "private" ceremony. When asked about the possibility of high-profile guests attending, Adani immediately dismissed the idea, saying, “No, not at all.”
This statement confirming a low-key wedding, unlike the extravagant star-studded celebrations the world witnessed just a few months ago, effectively squashed any hopes of seeing Taylor Swift—or any other celebrity—at the upcoming wedding. But for Indian Swifties, who make up 18% of the pop star's total music streams, this comes as yet another disappointment. Swift holds the second-largest fanbase in India, yet she has never performed in the country—even during her highly anticipated Eras Tour. And there is a good reason for that.
In India, Swifties consume music differently, which does not mesh well with the top streaming source in the West.
Why has Taylor Swift never performed in India?
Taylor Swift is one of the world’s most beloved artists, and her fandom in India is huge. However, when she announced her global Eras Tour, there were six concerts scheduled in Singapore but none in India. A big part of the reason is her focus on physical releases like pieces of vinyl and limited-edition albums. Swift’s team uses these to gauge where her strongest fanbase lies.

In India, however, streaming platforms like Spotify and YouTube dominate the market, making physical copies less accessible and more expensive for fans. Without these sales, it is tough to predict the concert turnout and ticket demand, making it seem like Indian fans might not be as interested. So, Indian Swifties will just have to wait and see if the pop icon ever makes her way to Indian soil for a live performance.
