Nicki Minaj and Kanye West are both rap giants. However, after West’s public jab at Minaj at the Las Vegas listening party for ‘Vultures’, it is safe to say that they are not on the best terms. Minaj turned down Ye’s offer to clear their joint track ‘New Body,’ initially planned for his shelved 2018 album ‘Yandhi’. Shortly after rejecting West, Minaj switched gears to give a shoutout to another big player in the music scene, someone who has had a bit of a bumpy history with the ‘Donda’ rapper. 

The long-standing feud between Taylor Swift and Kanye West is a well-known chapter in pop culture. Now, Nicki Minaj siding with Swift right after turning down West could add some new layer of intensity to the ongoing drama. 

Nicki Minaj would love to collaborate with Taylor Swift after rejecting Kanye West

Nicki Minaj’s album ‘Pink Friday 2’ has recently hit the shelves and her fans broke the record for vinyl sales for a female rap album. The 41-year-old rapper took to X, formerly Twitter, to celebrate the success with a streak of tweets. Touching on the collaboration demand with Taylor Swift, Minaj shared she would hop on board with the ‘Red’ creator “In a heartbeat”. She also gave a nod to Swift’s “great music” and its stellar sales, stating, “The SAG QUEEN TAYLOR DESERVES!!!! PERIOD!!!!!”. 

Nicki Minaj took a moment to recognize the passion and commitment of Swifties, who wholeheartedly invest in Swift’s songs. Building on that, the rapper called on her fanbase, the Barbz, to channel that same kind of support towards Minaj’s music. The Trinidadian-born rapper also praised Taylor Swift for her musical works during her recent Instagram Live. That being said, it was not the first time Nicki Minaj has shown love for Taylor Swift. 

Both Minaj and Swift consistently share a mutual appreciation for each other’s artistry. And this camaraderie has been particularly evident during the VMA Awards.

These heartwarming tweets rolled in three months after Taylor Swift praised Minaj at the MTV Video Music Awards in September. While accepting the award for “Best Direction,” Taylor could not resist gushing over Minaj, saying, “That’s my favorite Sagittarius over there”. Nicki reciprocated the same warmth with a smile. The duo also electrified the stage together at the 2015 VMAs for a memorable mashup of ‘Bad Blood’ and ‘The Night Is Still Young’. 

The 2022 VMAs saw Nicki Minaj being honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. While receiving the award, Taylor Swift not only stood up to applaud the rapper’s achievement but also prompted those around her to stand up in a show of respect. This visible display of camaraderie between Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj speaks volumes about their close bond. However, whether this will escalate tensions with Kanye West is a question that only time can answer.
