Beyoncé is a total powerhouse in the music scene, and no one is here to argue about that. But about Queen Bey’s country roots? There may be some debate on that. This year, she dropped ‘Cowboy Carter,’ and fans were thrown into a nostalgic whirlwind of country vibes, landing her on every playlist imaginable and even scoring a VMA nomination, despite having no music video in years. But not everything was sunshine and rainbows since she also got snubbed by the CMA Awards, which had fans feeling some type of way. Meanwhile, country star Luke Bryan took a different route, choosing to throw a little shade instead of support.

With a guide on how to embrace country flair, Bryan shared his thoughts on that nomination snub.

Country music sensation Luke Bryan recently graced SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live to dive into the buzz about Beyoncé not snagging any CMA Awards nominations for her latest album, ‘Cowboy Carter.’ When asked about it, Bryan called the situation a bit of a conundrum, acknowledging releasing a country album does not guarantee a nomination. However, he did mention that if an artist is passionate about country music, he would prefer them to “come into our world and be country with us.”

Bryan noted that plenty of amazing music often gets overlooked, and Beyoncé can do whatever she pleases since she is one of the biggest stars in the game. Still, he thought it would be a treat to see her strut into an award show, mingle with the country stars, maybe even throw them a high-five, and really join the “family.” He made it clear he was not suggesting that Beyoncé has not done that before, but he emphasized again that “country music is a lot about family.”

While Bryan might have his take, just before the drop of ‘Cowboy Carter,’ Beyoncé shared a post about the album, revealing that she did not exactly feel welcomed in the country genre.

Before the release of ‘Cowboy Carter,’ Beyoncé opened up about what inspired the album, a sequel to her record-breaking ‘Renaissance.’ She first teased ‘Act II’ during a Super Bowl commercial, followed by two tracks and a revelation of the cover art on Instagram, counting down the days to the release. Beyoncé shared the album had been in the works for over five years and stemmed from her feeling “not welcomed” in the country music scene.

“It was very clear that I wasn’t,” she wrote. Yet, that experience motivated her to explore the rich history of country music and dive into its archives. She emphasized this album is more of a Beyoncé project than a country one, bending and blending genres. While the success was skyrocketing with overwhelming first-day streams and record-breaking statistics, now with country stars like Luke Bryan offering advice, it leaves nearly everyone in a dizzying loop of confusion.
