According to music critic Anthony Fanton, the release of Charli XCX's 'BRAT' was swiftly followed by Taylor Swift's strategic move to drop a UK-exclusive version of her album 'The Tortured Poets Department', complete with additional tracks. This calculated move aimed to dominate the charts and eclipse XCX's momentum, earning Swift the title of "the Pettiest popstar ever" from Fanton, who shed light on the phenomenon, connecting the dots and revealing Swift's penchant for well-timed releases.
The remarks were aimed at Swift's swift apparent response to XCX's 'BRAT' claiming how it was a deliberate attempt to steal the spotlight, leveraging her immense popularity to overshadow her peers. Before this, Swift had also been engaged in a similar feud with Billie Eilish, further substantiating the claims.
