As Swift extended a warm shout-out to Puth in her recent album, 'The Tortured Poets Department,' the 32-year-old may now be reciprocating with a bit of his own 'Attention' towards her.

In her album's title track, 'The Tortured Poets Department,' Taylor Swift name-dropped Charlie Puth with the lyrics, "You smoked and ate seven bars of chocolate / we declared Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist". After taking some time to process the shout-out, Puth finally opened up about it, hinting that her mention sparked the creation of his new track, 'Hero.' Through a TikTok video, he explained, “This is a song I wrote about my friend called ‘Hero'”.

Even though he did not directly specify the inspiration for the song, Puth hinted that Taylor Swift's tribute in her song, which was rumored to be about Matty Healy, motivated him to unveil his own work. Revealing a little beyond its May 24th release date, the artist concluded his announcement by acknowledging his "Hero," saying, “Thank you for your support…  you know who you are". While Swift may have given him a shout-out in her latest song, Puth has belted out the songstress' tracks more than once in his live shows.
